2001 Chevy 1500 Change Oil Lamp

Alright this is about how to reset the change oil lamp on a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500, there are just going to be a few simple steps.

1. Go ahead and get in the vehicle and turn the ignition switch to the run position, do not start the vehicle just to where all the lights, etc. come on.
2. You should have seen the change oil soon light come on the dash.
3.  Fully engage and disengage the accelerator pedal 3 to 5 times, try 3 first if that does not work the go ahead and try 5 times.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the off position.
5. Turn the ignition switch to the run position to ensure the light went off.

You may have to try a different way because apparently there are many different ways to reset the light on this model pickup but I have done many oil changes and reset the light on these specific ones and it works every time. You may just have to keep trying a few times because you may not have done it right the first time.
